Hi, I'm Javier!
A first-generation university student with strong leadership and communication skills, highly motivated with a wide-ranging skill set in computer science. Experienced in programming, robotics, engineering, and cybersecurity, with a passion for tackling technical challenges and developing innovative solutions.
About Me
Since a young age, I have been fascinated by technology and its ability to solve real-world problems, which inspired me to pursue a career in computer science. I recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a minor in Applied Mathematics from Texas State University in December 2024.
My technical expertise spans programming languages like C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python, Swift, and Unix Shell Scripting, along with proficiency in tools and technologies such as React, Flask, Unity, Git, Firebase, and MongoDB. Throughout my academic journey, I actively participated in extracurriculars like Boko Hacks, Google Developer Student Club, Girls Who Code, and IEEE, where I honed my leadership and collaboration skills.
My project experience includes developing a 2D endless runner game with Unity, creating machine learning models to predict COVID-19 vaccinations using Python, building a personal budget tracker and web-based calculator with React.js, and designing full-stack applications like EcoEats and a Library Tracker.
Some of my notable projects include:
Projects
Dungeon Descent
• Designed and developed a 2D endless runner game with procedurally generated levels, dynamic enemy behavior, and interactive power-ups, enhancing replayability
• Conducted three Agile sprints with standups, leveraging Jira and Bitbucket for task management and version control
• Deployed the game using Unity’s WebGL, making it accessible on Itch.io, showcasing the game to a wide audience
LinkCOVID-19 Vaccination Prediction Model
• Built machine learning models to predict initial COVID-19 vaccinations using U.S. Census data
• Achieved a 97% fit with the data, demonstrating strong predictive accuracy using regression algorithms
• Analyzed trends and evaluated model performance with metrics like MSE, RMSE, and correlation
LinkEcoEats
• Developed an AI-powered app providing recipes to help reduce food waste by integrating Spoonacular API and Tesseract
• Designed features for inventory tracking and receipt scanning to enhance functionality
• Conducted user interviews and gathered feedback from over 20 survey responses, driving improvements in usability and experience tailored to busy college students
LinkREST API Pet Store Website
• Built a RESTful web app simulating CRUD operations for a pet store database, supporting efficient inventory management
• Server is written in JavaScript and adheres to RESTful API with HTML and CSS to compose the frontend
LinkLibrary Tracker
• Designed and built a full-stack application to manage library books, including check-in/check-out functionality
• Developed RESTful APIs with Express.js and MongoDB for dynamic routing and efficient database operations
• Created a responsive React frontend to interface with the backend, integrating user actions via Axios
